Overwrapping
Overwrapping or cellophaning is the process of folding a length of film around a product and closing the package using heated sealing devices. Overwrapping can result in savings on production costs as well as enhancing the appeal of a product. A number of heat sealable materials can be used for the process including polypropylene, paper, PVC, polyethylene and even the new cornstarch-based biodegradable film.
